General Atomics MQ-1 predator

In the ACTD, a team of Army and Navy pilots operated a General Atomics MQ-1B Predator. It was a remote-piloted, multi-mission aircraft at medium altitude, and carried two AGM-114 Hellfire rockets. It is powered by the Rotax 914 engine. Since 1996, the MQ-1B Predator is in service.

The MQ-1B Predator, an American armed and remotely piloted aircraft, is used by both the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. from Poway in California designed the MQ-1B Predator. This multi-mission aircraft is medium-altitude and can be controlled remotely from a Ground Control Station thousands and miles away.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. created the MQ-1B Predator as a medium-lift unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It was designed to replace F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft. It is powered and weighed in at around 2,000 pounds by a Rotax914 turboprop engine. The aircraft has an estimated service life of 10 years and is currently in production.

The modified GA Gnat 750 is the MQ-1. It is used in forward observation and reconnaissance by the United States Air Force, and the Central Intelligence Agency. It can be equipped with two AGM-114 Hellfiremissiles. The aircraft was first used in Afghanistan and Pakistan in the 1990s. The U.S. has used the aircraft in numerous combat operation, including NATO bombings that hit Yugoslavia.

The Predator Program began in January 1994 as an Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration. The demonstration's purpose was to test the capabilities of unmanned long-endurance aircraft at medium altitudes. The program's prototypes, known as RQ-1s, were used during the ACTD. In March 1994, the Navy and Army had a single Predator in operation that was attached at a Military Intelligence Battalion Low Intensity unit located in Orlando, Florida.

Air Force, Army and Navy have maintained a close working relationship for many years. The Predator however is an exception. While the relationship has remained good between the two services, Army brass is notoriously competitive. The Air Force tried to wrest control of the Predator from the Army, but the Army retained the Gray Eagle. Later upgrades to the MQ-1C allowed for a combined Army/Navy team to operate it during ACTD.

How can I clean my drone?
